This game is a pioneer in the world of WW2, strategy games. And I must say, don't let the age of this bugger stop you from trying it out.

It's in the middle of the war and at the moment it seems like everything is lost, the outcome of the war rests on your shoulders.

In Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines you take control over a group of specialized Elite solidiers, each one with it's unique weapon expertise and arsenal of weapons. Now you must use the individual skills to the fullest as you try to sneek deep in, in the enemies bases to complete your mission.

About the game:

Each level is played on a map with different objectives and you will start with specific solidiers for each map. The game is played from an overview and most of the times concentrate more on sneaking quietly and unnoticed past the enemy rather than shooting him down. Of course is it possible to use violent methods but this will most of the time increase the difficulty and sometimes make you unable to complete the mission.
This make the game really hard and interesting as you will need to use your brain more than your reflexes. Oten a map takes many hours to comlpete but once you have got your first kill you get a hang of it and can't stop yourself.

Upsides:

This game along with its sequels is truly a state of art. The way the game is played is unique and a thrilling experience for everyone interested in the WW2 genre. It let's you use your imagination to the fullest as there is really no "how you should do it", to complete it.

Downsides:

Being an old game it may have some troubles running on Vista,
but I have succecfully got it running on XP. One thing that I must say lover the game experience considerably is that the game doesn't use any music in the background. Though this is something uncluded in all the sequel games.

summary:

It's a really great game for what it is, challenging, stimulating and well made in any way. But I must say that even though the game is from 12+ I hardly believe that the level of the game is simple enough at that age. So I thinkt it's more suitable for ages 16+.
