Brain Lord, Fun fighting, Tough Puzzles, July 15, 2008
By ThePhantom
System - Super Nintendo
Players - 1
Dificulties - Only one Difficulty
Summary - Combine Zelda and an RPG and Brain Lord is what you might come up with. You are your typical run of the mill fantasy game hero. The dungeons are difficult when it comes to doing jump parts and getting over the never ending darkness below you. But you will end up Running, Jumping, and slicing your way through anything you encounter. After you kill so much you will level get just a bit stronger and continue on. Now what I like most about this game are the faries, they are little things you find and can summon to your side to help you in combat. They pick up tiny black electrical orbs that your enemies drop to get stronger themselves. The death penelty in this game is not that bad. While it is never a good thing to die nothing real extravigant happens to you. As long as you are cool with being teleported back to the last checkpoint and losing half your money. Which money dosnt take too long to get its just annoying to lose it.

Gameplay - 8/10 - This is where the game starts to shine, its also what we should expect from Enix games. The puzzles are annoying but make the game challenging enough to keep you trying again and again. The combat is fun and the way that you use magic is a pretty rare style of doing it that is worth trying.

Sound - 7/10 - While nothing groundbreaking here I did notice that it did pretty well of keeping the music fresh and I was never forced to turn down my sound.

Story - 6/10 - This games story is fairly typical in my view but it does have an actual storyline, while most snes games do have a story alot of them just throw you into the game without telling you what you should actually be doing or any backstory.

Graphics - 7/10 - The graphics are about on par for good RPG's of this genra. The main character could have looked a bit cooler, but I did enjoy pot smashing with an axe.

Overall - 8/10 - Fun game, you got to fight lots of things and the game did not take too long to get into, could have used a bit of smoothing the edges here or there but you can easily get agrivated by some of the puzzles easy on but if your cleaver enough this should be a game you try out.
