I think you'll find that the Xbox is a lot more capable of great things than the PS2 is. The thing with the original Xbox was, not a lot of game developers originally wanted to work with Microsoft, so they didn't have a very wide range of games. With the 360 however, the games are looking even stronger than before.
I'll you know about the 360 when I get my hands on it ;)

I hate to be the hater here, but when I read the reviews of some of the games for Xbox 36 as well as what I had to do to get a fully functional Xbox 360, I was just not happy...
1.) Buy the Xbox 360
2.) Too many upgrades to mention that will cost you
3.) You have to update to be able to play the older Xbox games
4.) You have to update to be able to play newer games for Xbox 360
5.) According to the Xbox.Com site, you can't use the new save cards with the older Xbox games, you have to use the original save cards for Xbox games
6.) According to Xbox.Com site, some Xbox saves can't transfer to the Xbox 360
The up side to Xbox 360 is the fact that you can buy a 20 gig drive to save EVERYTHING including your game saves and options to this drive for backup pruposes or to share with your friends. Also, they have a 25 hour battery pack at a very nice price you can buy for days you lose power. THey also have a HD DVD player addon for the 360, but comes with a hefty price tag of $300+. As far as I am concerned, as long as you have a good TV with a good sound system, I could care less of HD quality DVD player. (Yeah, your right, I haven't experienced HD DVD movies, but I don't care.) My main peeve is the fact that if I want to play original Xbox games without finding them in the store is to pay to get on Xbox Live and then pay more to play the older games and I also have to have a high performace internet connection. Overall, it would be much cheaper to keep an eye out on bargain bens that sell Xbox games for $10 a piece.
I myself am all for the PS3. No too many additional accessories to get, no needing to constantly update to play older games, don't have to download updates to make games work, and you don't have to have additional accessories unless you just want to have a high performance PS3.
But, that's just me...CHEAP... :D

Yea but the PS3 itself will cost you your soul, or somewhere near that price. If you want a cheap solution, buy a Wii! or perhaps even a NES or Dreamcast from EbaY! :)
I love my 360 and it's fast becoming the best console I've had to date. I havn't touched a PS3 or Wii yet, but should be getting the latter soon enough. As for the PS3 though, I'm not all that interested, plus... I don't have that sort of money.

Well, that's been normal since the beginning of game consoles, the first generation is ALWAYS the most exspensive. When Atari was first sold, it had a price tag of $50-$75, and since minimum wage was small back then, that was a hefty price.
The first Snes sold between for $75 (Core) or $150 with Super Mario World or $200 which included Super Scope, Super Scope 6 game, and console with controller.
And must we forget the accessories that the Genesis had???
Genesis Core
Menacer (Light Zapper)
32X
Sega CD ($150 value)
Sega Master System accessorie that lets you play Master System games
RAM Chip (To save your Sega CD games)
NeoGeo cart system was first sold for $300 for normal system, $400 for Gold edition.
TurboGrafix-16 sold for $100 for Core, $200 for CD system addon, and a whopping $300 for the Turbo-Duo (Cart and CD system in 1)
Phillips CD-i was sold for over $300 when first marketed.
3DO was sold for $400 and up, that was way too much and one reason why the system didn't last long.
PS2 first sold for $300 and was drastically reduced between $75-$150 based on either the thicker older models versus the thinner newer models.
So I expect the price to be very high, but luckily I am a patient man, and I have not known a time when the system didn't go down in price after a year of marketing. :D
And if you compair the Xbox 360, paying to get Xbox Live, having to update constantly, needing certain accessories to play certain games, it would be cheaper to buy a PS3 in the long run.
(Going off topic for a moment) As for Wii, Nintendo as just lost my confidence since N64 days. I expected a lot more from Nintendo Of America when N64 came out, I was really expecting graphics to really improve over the PSX since PSX was a 32 bit system and N64 was SUPPOSE to be a 64 bit system. But after the games I saw, even a PSX could have done 1000% of the games (Yes, I ment to say %1000 :D ) After that, I just felt disgraced with it's abilities. Plus, I was a Final Fantasy fan since NES days, and when I heard the Ultra bad news about Final Fantasy going to PSX (With good reason, and not just because of the graphics either, there is more to the story), I switched to PSX.
So in short, I am a patient man, and history really does repeat itself. The Price will go down and I will be there when it does. (Yes, I am aware of the first models always being the worst models as well, hence the reason why I will wait for them to fix the first and second generation models so I will get a working model.)
Okay, my 2 cents worth of pointless drivel. :D My poor fingers really hate keyboards. LOL :D

Well some of us microsoft lovers like the idea that I can use my 360 and link it to my pc along with media center os and use my 360 to play all my movies and music. I just got the core system and with only one controller and no games, this did disappoint me, but, I am really looking forward to adding the hardrive. Although i just got it and I have yet to try other options like online gaming, I am looking forward to connecting my 360 to my complete network, adding the hd player and playing high def on my projector on a theater size wall soon.

I've had my box for 11 months now and it's gave me some good times, I highly recommend online play, along with Gears of War. Buying a hard drive would also be a wise idea. As for the high definition projector... very nice. Welcome to XGD and the 360 community :D

The xbox 360 is hands down the best next-gen system out! And its the cheapest! The games for it are awsome...Gears of war!! Need i say more. Graphics are top notch,as well as gameplay. And the online play is second to none. If you are debating which system to get ps3/360/wii. Get the 360 you wont be disappointed!

I was much interested before, but after the release i changed my mind. Some of my friends told it is not a great deal.Further Microsoft consoles are becoming unpopular as the year passes.
