To avoid getting destroyed by it, when you see that a Peace Maker is closing in on you (four white lines surround you making a diamond), hold Square to stop and begin driving in reverse. Then when whoever is in second place passes you, they will get destroyed instead of you. Alternately, if you have a shield as a red weapon it will protect you from a Peace Maker.
